Very disappointing. We've eaten there before and had very good meals. This time it was terrible. We got mussels that weren't opened, risotto that was hard, the wrong sides with the catfish, and the shrimp on the blackened shrimp Alfredo was not blackened. The only good thing was the poor waitress was great and the manager was very accommodating. They do need to get their kitchen staff figured out. It felt like someone was trying to sabotage the orders. I hope they can get it straightened out because we need good restaurants in this in this area.
I have been going to this place for 30+ years and I just took my family there for dinner and because my son has particular tastes (like many 6 year olds do) we brought in a 4 dollar happy meal. After getting fully seated and the hostess not able to find a kids menu, I informed her we didn't need one and that she could call off her search because he is selective and that we had some food for him. A couple minutes later a different woman came up to us and informed us that they have a no outside food policy. Okay, I get that you don't want people bringing in their own steaks and such, but really!?!? You are ready to give up a long time customer over a happy meal? We walked out and had a great meal at the Handsome Hobo down in North Muskegon. I am really disappointed that this happened as I used to really enjoy going to Crosswinds.
I was there, from Florida, to surprise my Granddaughter. Samantha was a great help with not only the surprise and Great Dinner, but with directions from Grand Rapids International. A beautiful place, right on the lake. The food was absolutely wonderful and I will return for more!
I can't decide if I'd call this place below average or mediocre. If pressed, I'd say below average. Virtually everything we ordered was served luke warm. The goat cheese app tasted like cleaner wasn't rinsed out of pan. Inedible. Pretzel bites we served room temperature and borderline stale. Beer cheese was very good though. Mushroom soup was cold. This place is more about preparing frozen food than actually creating items from scratch. And it shows in the taste.
The black bean burger with blue cheese crumbles is amazing. The gumbo is another favorite. And the apps made it worth going back to the gym. And of course, the "Save the SS Minnow" drinks were brilliant.
